Featherstones can now be found across the world, we have had contact with Featherstone's in Peru, but the main populations now reside in the USA, UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and South Africa. That is where our membership comes from.

Lots of researchers believe that we originate from North West Northumberland in the UK, from a Helius (Elias) de Fetherestanhalgh who is recorded in the 1200's with lands in that area, there are earlier recorded names in the book "A Dictionary of English Surnames" by P.H.Reaney & R.M. Wilson, Featherston, Featherstone: William Federestan 1187(Staffordshire). also noted are the two villages named Featherstone in Staffordshire and also in West Riding of Yorkshire. More details here

The Name is also found in Ireland, after the English civil war, when a descendant called Cuthbert took lands in Ireland.
