Jesse was married to Catherine ("Catron") by 3 Jan 1775 per a propertydeed signed on that date in Amelia County Virginia. He later bought land(15 Mar. 1778) in Granville County, North Carolina. He sold the landagain on 15 Jan. 1779 and bought land in Tyrone County, North Carolina on12 Feb 1779. He is described on the deed as being from Granville County.

Lincoln County, North Carolina was formed out of Tyrone County on 30 Oct1794, Merriman THORNE of "CLAIMBRA, Ga." sold Jesse 140 acres on theSouth Fork of the Catawba River in Lincoln County, North Carolina.

"William Featherston, son of William Featherston, the Elder.~~ His willdated 8/2/1767 and probated in Amelia Co., Va. 4/27/1769 names sons;William Grigg Featherston, Burwell Featherston, Lewis Featherston,Richard Featherston, Jesse Featherston, Charles Howell Featherston, anddaughters Lucy Vaughan, Frances Stell, Elizabeth Featherston (marriedLewis Clark), and Suannah Featherston. One writer asserts that his wifewas Susannah Grigg (born 6/11/1720), daughter of William Grigg and SusanLockett Grigg.

~~DFL Note: There is general confusion across the board as to whichWilliam was known as "the Elder" some researchers refer to William II as"the Elder" some as William I as "the Elder." (In this case, Mrs.Fischler appears to be providing information about William III, (the sonof William II who was the son of William I "The Elder") based on thechildren listed for this William and the reference to Susannah Grigg, aswell as the date of death for William (4/27/1769).~~
