Conflicting Information: In response to a posting placed on theFeatherstone Society Message Board, one responder states that Richard andElalah Fulton are the parents of Clement "Asbury" Featherstone, and notAnn Arledge. This researcher states that he found Clement AsburyFeatherstone's gravesite at the Long Creek Baptist Church just off NewHope Road between Dallas and Gastonia, North Carolina. This is thegeneral area where my ancestors were known to live --- therefore furtherverification of who Richard Featherstone's wife was is needed. However,Joyce Featherstone Hawkins of the Featherstone Society in herFeatherstone Findings says that this Richard Featherstone's wife was AnnArledge.

"W. R. Featherston merchant, of Cedar Hill, Tennessee, is a native of theState and was born April 10, 1845, son of J.W. and Emily (Jackson)Featherston. The father was born in Virginia in 1821, and came toTennessee about 1830, where he farmed and taught school. Our subjectremained at home until twenty-two years of age. He graduated from theCedar Hill Academy in 1865. He then farmed two years and clerked forG.W. Davis eight months. He then became a partner of S.J. Alley in themerchandis(e) business. Soon after Mr. Alley retired and W. Dardonbecame his partner. A year later, Mr. Featherston became soleproprietor, and January 2, 1878, was married to Miss M.E. Long. Theyhave one child, Bertha F., now about four years of age. Our subject isone of Cedar Hill's leading business men and is honest and upright in allhis dealings. He and wife are members of the Methodist Episcopal ChurchSouth, and he is a member of the F. & A.M., and a staunch Democratpolitically."

"William Columbus Featherston, born about 1845 (5 on the 1850 census ofHenderson County, NC). Apparently known generally as 'Columbus'Featherston. He married Lillie L. (..), lived in Asheville, where hishouse was at 180 Charlotte Street. In the 1912 issue of the AshevilleCity Directory she was listed as widow of W. C. Featherston, and thedeath records of Buncombe County show that he died there on August 30,1909. They had issue, at least two daughters and one son."

He may be the Will Featherstone who alongwith Robert Powell and Will Seawall was granted 200 pounds of tobacco bythe Virginia General Assembly at James City 16 April 1691 (HenricoRecords, Vol. 10, p. 355) Why? for killing wolves?"
