Charles Ervin Featherstone Sr. was born in Gaston County, NorthCarolina. His death certificate states that his usual occupation at thetime of his death was a "retired" textile worker. His birth date isstated at November, 5, 1890. His attending physician, Dr. Scruggs statedhe died of a perforated stomach ulcer, on June 5th 1948, his age at deathwas noted as 57 years and 7 months. His parents are stated as JosephFeatherstone and Mary Neagle of Gaston County, and his wife as WillieSipe Featherstone. His usual residence was stated as RFD #1, Mt. Holly,Gaston County, N.C. The burial was noted to be on June 6, 1948 at theGreenwood Cemetery, in Belmont, by Fite Funeral Home.spouse: Sipe, Willie Myrtle (1894 - 1968)
Of interest concerning his grave site at the Greenwood Cemetery, youwill find that his tombstone was originally engraved as "Featherstone"with an "e," which was "mysteriously filled in with cement" after hisdeath and burial, no doubt by one of the "more stubborn" family members, who were adamant that his name was spelled "Featherston." Thus along-standing family debate regarding the spelling of our surname has nowbeen immortalized in STON(E)......FEATHERSTONE that is, with an "e."Burial - [date: 7 JUN 1948] [place: Greenwood Cemetary, Belmont, Gaston County, North Carolina]

He was one of the kindest men I have ever known and his sense of humorand laughter will always be remembered. He loved his bird dogs andhunting, but most of all he enjoyed his family. He and Bobbie Jeanalways made you feel welcome in their home, no matter when you came byfor a visit.
