William Loftin will written 17 June 1811 Probate: __
In the name of God Amen, I William Loftin of the state of Tennessee and county
of Rutherford, being weak of body but of perfect sound mind and memory and
calling to mind the fraility and uncertain of this mortal life, do make and
(ordain?) this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is
to say, first my will and desire is that my just debts be paid and discharged
after my decease at the discretion of my executors hereafter named and my body
be buried in a decent and Christian like manner.
Item: I give and bequeath to my beloved wife, Lovina Loftin, Seventy acres of
land including the plantation whereon I now live and an equal part of the
spring of water during her natural life, also one negro fellow by the name of
Nat and his wife. Sale, and a negro woman by the name of Darkis, during her
natural life and after my beloved wife Lovina Loftin decease, my will and
desire is that the before mentioned negros Nat and Sale shall return, they and
their increase unto my beloved son Thomas Loftin, his heirs and assigns
forever.
Item: I give and bequeath unto my beloved daughter Polly Brothers, a negro
woman by the name of (Nellys?), she and her increase to my said daughter Polly
Brothers, she and her heirs and assigns forever.
Item: I give and bequeath unto my beloved daughter Elizabeth Cole, one negro
woman by the name of (Ginser?), she and her increase, which is one negro girl
