As account director, he organized and managed the Public Information
Committee of the Cotton Industries with offices first in Dallas, then in
Washington, D.C.
While in Washington, he assisted in the organization of the Trade
Associations Information Committee which operated as a clearing house and
information center for some 450 nation, regional, state and local associations
and Chambers of Commerce.
He joined the Cain Organization, Inc., Dallas-based southwestern public
relations consultants, as an Executive Director of Galveston Progress
Committee with offices in Galveston, Texas. He was made Vice-President of the
Cain Organization in 1958.
He is past-President of the Greater Washington Chapter of the University
of Kentucky Alumni, member of the Petroleum Club of Tulsa, Galveston Club,
American Society of Association Executives, Washington Trade Association
Executives and New York Chapter of Public Relations Society of America. He is
a member of the Board of Governors of the National Institute on Consumer
Finance, Marquette University.
Mr. Featherston is a life member and former President of the Kentucky
Society of Sons of the Revolution, life member Kentucky Historical Society,
Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels and Honorable Order of Kentucky Admirals;
member-at-large of Lions International, member Civil War Round Table,
Gentlemen's Driving Club and Spindletop Hall. For 13 years, he was Chairman
of the Lexington Urban Renewal and Community Development Agency and is now an
honorary member. He served on the Kentucky Constitutional Revision Committee.
A former Master Councilor of the Lexington Chapter. Order of DeMolay, Mr.
Featherston is a Mason and belongs to the Blue Grass Scottish Rite Club, the
Indra Consistory, and the Oleika Legion of Honor.
He is an Elder at Woodland Christian Church, and has served as a member
of the Administrative Board.
