father was appointed his guardian. He was a Lawyer, Confederate Army Captain and
Major during the Civil War—wounded and captured by the Union Troops - "In 1863,
Major Featherston and Captain Bagwell, who
were commanding a small guard at Waldron (AR), were captured. Major Featherston
was seriously wounded." "He became one of the leading attorneys of Scott Co."
