Commission of oyer and terminer to Henry, earl of Northumberland, Thomas de Clyfford, knight, William Haryngton, Thomas Fulthorp, Thomas Stirkeland, knight, Robert Laybourne, knight, Henry Fenwyk, knight, John Penyngton, knight, John Markham, Thomas Haryngton of Hornby, Thomas Bethom and Richard Knyght, to enquire in the county of Westmoreland touching the complaint of Thomas Baty that Thomas Fetherstanehalgh, late of Whytfeld, co. Northumberland, 'gentilman', Hugh Forster, late of Penreth. co. Cumberland, 'gentilman', Roger Lancastre, late of Sokbred, co. Westmoreland, 'gentilman', Robert Sandford, late of Astone, co. Westmoreland, 'gentilman', and John Sclatter, late of Penreth, co. Cumberland, 'sclatter', with other evildoers broke the closes and houses of the said Thomas Baty at Burgham and Regill, co. Westmoreland, and took 30 oxen, 65 cows and 400 sheep worth 172 marks and assaulted his men and servants and so threatened him and his men and servants that they dare not for a long time go openly about their business, and thus he lost their service.For 1 mark paid in the hanaper.

Powyk, master of the kings horses, to go to divers parts overseas and purvey horses for the king, and prompt payment therefor was promised to him on his return, which horses he purveyed estimating to have had the said sum, for payment whereof two tallies levied at the Receipt of the Exchequer were delivered to the said lord by the name of the king's night, John Beauchamp, master of the king's horses, one to wit, of 60l. levied on 14 July 23 Henry VI, on John Pouterell and Thomas Pounde, collectors of the subsidy on wools in the port of London, and the other of 60l. levied on 17 January 24 Henry VI, on Ralph Touke and Thomas Fetherstone, collectors of the custom and subsidy in the port of Sandwich, but he has not obtained payment by the space of three years and more; and the said lord has now surrendered the said tallies into the Receipt

The king lately by letters patent appointed William, earl of Arundel,  lieutenant of Dover castle and governor of the Cinque Ports, Robert Cok, mayor of Sandwich, Edward Skelton, serjeant at arms, William Funell, John Colle, John Waskeff, John Saman and  the bailiff of Sandwich to enquire into the capture of a carvel of Domyngo Demascata, John Demascata and John Garce,  merchants of Spain, and the said Edward has returned that Richard Gyfford, Thomas Cok, and John Stereson, victuallers of the ship called la Marye Welfare, were the captors of the carvel, and confessed to the capture and the said Thomas and John and one John Chillesworth offered satisfaction to the sum of 6l. apiece and the gear of the carvel was in the house of one  Fetherston of Sandwich, whose wife promised restitution, and that he has put the said Domynggo in full possession of the carvel in the port of Sandwich.
The king accordingly hereby appoints the above and Richard Cheldesworth, John Westcliff, John Swan and Pety John to restore the said 18l. and gear to the said Domynggo, John and John and to enquire into whose hands the residue of the wines, goods and merchandise came and to cause restitution of the same or their true value and to arrest and imprison the offenders until due restitution be made.

Kent, mariner, alias 'gentilman', staying on the king's service in the company of William Broun, mayor, the constable and the society of merchants of the staple of Calais, treasurers  and victuallers of the town and marches, on the safe-custody and victualling of the same, because he delays in the city and suburbs of London, as appears by certificate of John Stokker and Henry Colet, sheriffs.
