50      SAMUEL FEATHERSTONE 1871 Dev

This is the last will and testament of me Samuel Featherstone of number 14 Cobourg Street Plymouth in the county of Devon a retired Commander in Her Majestys Royal Navy In the first place I direct my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses and the costs of proving this my will to be fully paid and satisfied by my executors hereinafter named as soon as conveniently may be after my decease I give and bequeath unto the Treasurer for the time being of the Poor Saints Relief Fund established at Plymouth aforesaid by the Reverend James Babb and the Trustees of Portland Chapel there the sum of Five pounds for the benefit of the Charity   I also give and bequeath unto the Treasurer for the time being of the South Devon and Cornwall Institution for the Blind the sum of Five pounds for the benefit of that institution and I direct these two legacies to be paid out of my pure personal estate  I give and bequeath unto my esteemed friend Henry Luscombe of Plymouth merchant and one of my executors hereinafter named the sum of Ten pounds   I give devise and bequeath my freehold dwellinghouse in Cobourg Street in Plymouth aforesaid wherein I now reside with the gardens and appurtenances thereunto belonging also all my moneys n the Public Stocks or Funds  my shares in the Plymouth Devonport and Stonehouse Cemetery Company  moneys in the Savings Bank or elsewhere household goods and furniture together with all such real and residuary personal estate as I shall die seized or possessed of unto my nephew Samuel Featherstone of Marlborough in the county of Wilts the Assistant Master of the Grammar School there and the said Henry Luscombe and the survivor of them his heirs executors administrators and assigns  Upon trust to convert into money my household goods and furniture and to invest the same and after paying thereout Ten pounds a year to Jane Featherstone the mother of the said Samuel Featherstone for the term of her natural life by equal Quarterly payments the first payment to be made her at the expiration of three calendar months after my decease to pay the residue of the annual income of the whole of my real and personal estate or permit the same to be received by my said nephew Samuel Featherstone for his own use for the term of his natural life and from and after the decease of my said nephew Samuel Featherstone  I give devise and bequeath the same unto and amongst all his children in equal shares and proportions as tenants in common and to be conveyed and transferred and paid to them respectively on their respectively attaining the age of twenty one years with full power for the trustees for the time being of this my will to apply the rents and annual income of my said real and personal estate for the benefit of the children of my said nephew during their respective minorities I nominate and appoint my said nephew Samuel Featherstone and the said Henry Luscombe to be the executors of this my will and revoking all former wills do declare this alone to be my last will and testament  In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this twenty first day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty four   Samuel Featherstone

Signed by the said Samuel Featherstone the testator as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us present at the same time who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses Gustavus Giuley of Plymouth solicitor James Barler of Plymouth accountant

 

This is a codicil to the last will and testament of me Samuel Featherstone of No 14 Cobourg Street Plymouth in the county of Devon a Retired Commander in Her Majestys Royal Navy and which will is hereunto annexed bearing date the twenty first day of June one thousand and sixty four Whereas I have by my said will given an annuity of Ten pounds a year to Jane Featherstone the mother of my nephew Samuel Featherstone for the term of her natural life and subject thereto and to the payment of the legacies  therein named I have directed the annual income of the whole of my real and personal estate to be received by my said nephew Samuel Featherstone for the term of his natural life and after his decease have devised and bequeathed the same amongst his children as therein named Now I do declare this to be a codicil to my said will and I do order and direct that after the decease of the said Jane Featherstone an annuity of Ten pounds a year shall be paid to Emma Jane Featherstone the wife of my said nephew Samuel Featherstone for the term of her natural life quarterly the first quarters payment to be made at the expiration of three calendar months from the decease of the said Jane Featherstone and subject as aforesaid   I confirm my said will In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand the fourth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy  Samuel Featherstone

Proved with a codicil at Exeter the 11 July 1871 by the oaths of Samuel Featherstone the nephew and Henry Luscombe the executors named in the will to whom administration was granted The Testator Samuel Featherstone was late of No 14 Cobourg Street Plymouth in the county of Devon Commander on the Retired List of Her Majestys Navy and died on the 30th day of June 1871 at No 14 Cobourg Street aforesaid Under £4000[G,Guiley Solr Plymouth]
