4         CHARLES FEATHERSTONHAUGH  1905 Bedfordshire

 

I Charles Featherstonhaugh of Aspley Heath in the county of Bedford Ropemaker hereby revoke all former Wills and Testamentary dispositions made by me and declare this to be my last will   I appoint my son Charles Matthew Featherstonhaugh of Aspley Heath aforesaid and George Faulkener Green of Leighton Buzzard in the said county of Bedford  Ironmonger the executors and trustees of this my will  I give all my business as a Rope Manufacturer which I now carry on at Aspley Heath and the tools appertaining there to unto my said son Charles Matthew Featherstonhaugh for his own use absolutely he having for some years past rendered me such valuable assistance in my said business  I give and devise all my real estate and all other my personal estate [including the book debts and stock in trade of my said business] unto my trustees upon trust that my trustees shall sell call in and convert the same into money or such part thereof as shall not consist of money and divide the proceeds arising there from between all my children including the said Charles Matthew Featherstonhaugh in equal shares but so that the share of any child of mine to whom I have made advances or loans during my lifetime shall be less by the amount of such advances or loans which shall remain owing to me at my decease than the share of those children to whom no advances have been made  Provided always that if any child of mine shall die in my lifetime leaving a child or children who shall survive me and being a son or sons shall attain the age of twenty one years or being a daughter or daughters shall attain that age or marry then and in every such case the last mentioned child or children shall take [and if more than one equally between them] the share which his her or their parent if living would have taken   I declare that should the said Charles Matthew Featherstonhaugh wish to purchase my real estate or any part of it or the stock in trade belonging to my said business or any part of it he shall be entitled to do so either my valuation made in the usual way by two valuers one to be appointed by the said George Faulkener Green and the other by himself or at any sale or sales by Public Auction that may be held for the realization there of in pursuance of the trust here in before contained not withstanding the fact of his being a trustee and I do hereby ratify and confirm to him any property that he may be so purchase on payment or accounting to my estate of or for the amount of the purchase money thereof  In witness whereof I have here unto set my hand this seventh day of October One thousand eight hundred and ninety six

I Charles Featherstonhaugh of Aspley Heath in the County of Bedford Rope Manufacturer declare this to be a Codicil to my Will dated the seventh day of October One thousand eight hundred and ninety six  I direct my executors to provide a suit of mourning for each of the following persons

Jacob Pearce and his wife Fanny Pearce and each of their children

James Arthur and Maud to whom I hereby bequeath the same

In addition to the gift to my son Charles Matthew Featherstonhaugh of my business of a Rope Manufacturer carried on at Aspley Heath and the tools appertaining there to given by my said will  I give to my said son Charles Matthew Featherstonhaugh the stock in trade  Horse cart  Utensils and other effects appertaining to my said business and to this extent I revoke the bequest to my trustees  I give to my daughter Maria all the furniture and other household effects that may be in and about my house at the time of my decease except money and securities for money  In all other respects I confirm my said will In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this twenty ninth day of June One thousand nine hundred and three
