In the name of God Amen
The twelve day of December in the year of Lord 1806. I [J] Bradley Featherstone mariner being in bodily health and of sound and disposing mind and memory and considering the perils & dangers of the seas and otherwise failures of this transitory life so for avoiding controversies after my decease make publish and declare this my last will and testament in manner following that is to say First I recommend my soul to God that gave it and my body I commit to the earth or sea as it shall please God to order and as for and concerning all my worldly estate I give bequeath and dispose thereof that is to say in the first place I give unto my brother Matthew Featherstone ten pounds to my brother John Featherstone five pounds and sister Mary Win [Wire] five pounds likewise James Dearel two pounds to be paid out of my wages Sum and sums of money lands tenements goods chattels and estate whatsoever as shall be anyways due owing or belonging unto me at the time of my decease I do give devise and bequeath the same unto them also I give unto my sister Ellen Featherstone whom I likewise constitute make and ordain my only and sole executrix of this my last will and testament and singular my estates by her to be possessed and I do hereby nominate and appoint her to be my sole executrix of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former and other wills testaments and deeds of gift by me at any time heretofore made and I do ordain and ratify these presents to stand and be for as my only last will and testament Bradley Featherstone In witness whereof to this my said will I hast set my hand and seal the twelve day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and 6 and in the 46 year of the reign of His Majesty King George the third over Great Britain Signed sealed published and declared in the presence of James Kidner John Hill William Beard
This will was proved at London the eighteenth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and nine before the Worshipful Samuel Pearce parson Doctor of Laws and Surrogate of the Right Honourable Sir John Mitcholl Knight also Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oath of Eleanor by mistake in the will written Ellen Featherstone spinster the sister of the deceased and the sole executrix named in the said will to whom admon was granted of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased [save and ---so far as relates to any wages pay prize money and other allowance money due to him the said deceased for his service as a seaman on board any of His Majesty’s ships] she having been first sworn duly to administer
