This is the last will and testament of John Featherstone of Hunton in the County of Kent, yeoman. First I will order and direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses with the costs of proving this my will be paid and satisfied by my executrix hereinafter named out of my personal estate as soon as conveniently may be after my decease and I give and bequeath unto my grandson Thomas Knowles (a private in His Majesty's South ???? Regiment of Militia the sum of twenty pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid and payable to him by my executrix by = instalments of one pound only per annum during such time as he shall remain in the said Regiment and the residue thereof to be paid to him within three calendar months from the time of his quitting the same also I give and bequeath unto my daughters Mary ffeatherstone and Susanna ffeatherstone and unto both of them one pound of the lawful money to be paid by my executrix on the day of my burial and as to all the rest residue and remainder of my goods, chattels, ?????? for money effects and personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever I give and bequeath the same unto my daughter Lucy ffeatherstone who resides with me ??? Executors administrators and assigns absolutely and lastly I do nominate consulate and appoint my said daughter Lucy ffeatherstone sole executrix of this my will and revoking all former wills by me made declare this only to be and contain my last will and testament. With??? whereof the said John ffeatherstone the testator have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal this seventeenth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety six.

The will was proved at London the fourteenth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety nine before the Knight honerarable Sir William Wynne Knight doctor of law master keeper or commissary of the prerogative court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oath of Lucy ffeatherstone spinster the daughter of the deceased and sole executrix named in the said will to whom administration was granted of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased having been first sworn by commission duly to administer Exd.
