The Accompte of Marie Featherstone, widowe and administratrix
of all and singuler the goodes and chattells of Thomas Featherstone,
Esquier, late Alderman of the Cyttie of Canterburie, decea[se]d, by her made
and declared the sixt daye of the monthe of Marche in the yeare of oure
Lord God 1618, of and uppon all and singuler suche goodes and chattles as late weare the afore- named Thomas Featherstone decea[se]d his whiles he lived, and since his deathe have com[m]en to the handes and possession of this
Accompt[an]t by force of l[ett]res of ad[ministra]c[i]on thearof to her him in
that behalfe lawefullie comitted, as followeth: Vizt:




Firste this Accompt[an]t chargeth herselfe w[i]th all and singuler suche goodes and chattells as late weare the aforenamed Thomas Featherstone Esquier decea[se]d his whiles he lived, and since his deathe have com[m]en to the handes and possession of this Accompt[an]t: w[hi]ch goodes and chattells are conteyned and sp[ec]ified in an In[vento]rie thearof made and heerto annexed, and the same being by honest men seene, and indifferently apprized, doe in the whole amounte unto the som[m]e of £1151 12shillings 9d.



Whearof this Accompt[an]t humblie prayeth to be allowed all suche som[m]es
of money as shee hathe necessariely paide and laide owte, or is tyed soe to
paye and laye owte, in and abowte the administreing in the saide decea[se]des
goodes and chattells, and payment of his debtes and other dueties, wheareof
the p[ar]ticulers doe heerunder followe and ensue: vizt:



In primis for the buriall of the saide Thomas Featherston decea[se]d, for a sermon preached therat, a Coffin to burie him in, for a hearscloathe, for the mourneing apparrell used thearat, for a dynner or banquett at the said buriall, to the heraulde for his fees being imployed at the saide buriall, and all other charges and expences therabowtes, in all, the som[m]e of 40



It[e]m for the l[ett]res of administrac[i]on taken of the saide decea[se]des goodes p[re]rogatively, for the obligac[i]on thearuppon, for reg[ist]ring and engrosseing the Inventorie, for twoe Caveattes entred by this accompt[an]t for preventeing the graunteing of the saide ad[ministra]c[i]on to anie other then to herselfe, and for all other charges therabowtes in bothe offices, the somme of 26 ...

Soe it plainely appeareth that this Accompt[an]t hath well and faithefullie administred in the goodes and chattells of the saide Thomas Featherstone, Esquier decea[se]d, and that all the som[m]es and paym[en]tes aforesaid to her allowed, there yet remayneth in her handes of the saide goodes, to be limited by the Ordinarye, the sum[m]e of 124 6 ...

[On the sixth day of March 1616 according to etc before the Lord Commissary etc in the presence of me, Peter Wynne, notary public, There appeared personally the aforenamed Mary Fetherstone, the relict and administratrix of the goods of the aforenamed Thomas Fetherstone, esquire, deceased, who truly exhibited this account, together with the inventory annexed to the same, as true, and whom the Lord, at her petition, admitted so far as etc, an oath touching [the Holy Bible] upon the laying out of the sums etc being first taken by the same.

Further the Lord, at the petition of the said administratrix, allocated sums, and thus acquitted and dismissed the same administratrix from rendering any further account etc in this regard

Of the residue, indeed, the Lord limited portions in manner and form following, that is to say,

To Elizabeth Fetherstone, the daughter etc of the said deceased, of the age of 9 years or thereabouts, 20

The residue to the accountant.
